This is homage to my Moapa Valley friends! An ode to the small hometown that largely shaped the person I am today. We’ve all heard it from the city folk: “What do you guys do for fun in such a small town, hang out at the gas station?” The answer to that is YES and that gas station was WALLY’S! Such a staple to the valley for many generations, and despite being bought by a couple of different owners and going through a couple name changes, we all know it’ll forever be Wally’s in our hearts.
I recently heard a kid at the Logandale skatepark say to his friend, “Let’s hit up Wally’s”. Additionally, the other day my friend’s Grandpa was proudly sipping from his vintage Wally’s refill cup and said to me, “It’ll always be Wally’s to me.” Both occasions indicated to me that Wally’s is a spirit in Moapa Valley that transcends through generations.
